Screening Documentary "Mother of the Earth" in Kermanshah

The documentary "Mother of the Earth" by Mahnaz Afzali, one of the series of "Karestan" documentary, was screened in Kermanshah on January 29, 2017.

This documentary is about the life and work of Haide Shirzady, Recycling and Composting Kermanshah Company CEO, who has dedicated her life on protecting Environment.

"The idea is related to Karestan series that has produced by The Entrepreneurship Foundation for Women and Youth and KaraFilm," said Mahnaz Afzali, the director. "This documentary has been produced in 52 minutes and has a glance into the life of Haide Shirzady, an ecologist who has tried to stop landfill and recycle organic waste into bio-compost, with cooperation by her husband, Edmund Lempges. In order to prevent destroying of sources and lands, Haide Shirzady has started up the construction rubble recycling project for the first time in Iran, in Kermanshah, and this is a valuable step in preserving the environment and natural resources." She continued: "Making of this film was begun in February-March 2015 in some short journeys to Kermanshah and living with Ms. Shirzady, and I strongly was impressed by her extraordinary work and fascinating character."

This documentary was screened in Farhang Cinema, Kermanshah, on January 29, 2017.

Shirzady has been educated in Germany, and after turning back to Iran could convince governments to start recycling projects in Gilan-Garb firstly, and then in Kermanshah and some other cities in Iran by strong insistence.

She could also teach people to get familiar with waste separating, and after all has set up Construction Rubble Recycling Project.

Karestan series are about efforts of those who could show the value of working in face of many challenges and transferring their knowledge and experiences can be valuable models for the entire society and especially youth, and have been produced by Mojtaba Mir-Tahmasb and Rakhshan Bani-Etemad.
